The Pinkpop festival is a large-scale rock concert, featuring multiple acts that often perform a diverse range of music, including heavy metal, alternative, folk and related genres.

Pinkpop has featured big names in the music industry, like U2, The Cure, Fleetwood Mac, Metallica, Rammstein, Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, Offspring, Lenny Kravitz and Bruno Mars.

Pinkpop is the world’s oldest and longest-running annual festival dedicated to pop and rock.

Pinkpop started on Pentecost weekend in 1970.

Pinkpop is usually held during the Pentecost weekend.

The name Pinkpop comes from “Pop met Pinksteren” the Dutch word for Pentecost or Whitsun an popular music .

The first Pinkpop festival was held in the southern Dutch city of Geleen.

Nowadays Pinkpop is now staged in the nearby village of Landgraaf.

Pinkpop became so popular that the organizers have spread the festival over three days.

2019 marks the 50th anniversary of Pinkpop, and it will again take place on Pentecost.
